ANIME
The word is the abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Japanese. The term, "anime", itself did not emerge until the mid-1980s, and its intended meaning of the term sometimes varies depending on the context. Among Japanese, the term references all animation. In English, the term is defined as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastic themes. Arguably, the stylization approach to the meaning may open up the possibility of anime produced in countries, other than Japan. Yet, for simplicity, many Westerners strictly view anime as an animation product from Japan.
Anime is animated manga where the stories are drawn out and stylised in comic from, and from there animators take the characters and stories and animate them into cartoon series. The anime culture is heaviest in Japan and has a faithful and strong following, other European countries and the USA have avid followers and fanatics of the anime theme and participate in it as well.

Assignment2 : Industrial Revolution

During the industrial revolution the use of text had become paramount on the as it was used among the people to send a message and communicate effectively with people and its use was as well just noted on its importance and its influence mattered in how it was applied.
The fonts of that age were bold text that had serifs, they were loud and shouting and there aim was to grab the readers attention in a manner in which the viewer would be captured and transfixed on that message and get influenced by it, the power of advertising had just been manifested and there was no looking back.
The invention of printing also developed due to the demand, Koenig developed a printing machine that increased productivity and lowered the price making it affordable for a wider market of people who would also have the power of being able to advertise.
New aspects came about due to the rate of printing and its increased demand forced designers to now apply colour and images onto the posters thus chromolithography was born and the best designers were those who were able to apply the two that is; text or typography with the images and conceptualise a design that would be able to communicate to the public and catch their attention in an instant and send the message that quick.
The industrial revolution was a time where technology was shared quickly and no one man could keep a discovery, an invention away from his rivals cause information was flowing smoothly and once one invention was out another inventor would discover about it and try make improvements on where he saw fit and applicable to make his work more effective and have better quality with maximum production.
The use of this new way of printing with images and colour, also known as chromolithography was used in every aspect of life, from making presidential campaign posters for Grover Cleveland to valentine cards. The application of colour made the images seem more realistic and gave the composition life thus more and more people applied it to their businesses especially n this time where machines were being introduced and everything was on a major scale of production, despite it being an inventive age there was a lot of showmanship as the inventors would want to show off their new technologies thus they would ensure that they would dazzle and impress the public.
Chromolithography had its downside as well, the use of acids made the poster redundant in a short while and therefore it was not as effective despite it being a cheaper than a painting.

The Collapse of the Space and Time Continuum

Over time transport has developed from the steam engine to battery/electric powered cars. This has been developed in the need to get from one point to another quicker and more effectively. Thus speed in transport has been developed over time to suit the needs of the society of that period.
Cultures have changed since the inception of affordable and effective transport. Road trips are now opted out for safer and quicker methods such as the train whilst those who can use airlines.
The society has been heavily influenced by transport and communication, its so easy to talk to someone on the other side of the world and getting there is not hard as there are means and price ranges from one to another. The world has become a much smaller place due to the fact that technology has been adopted  by the society and every aspect such as transport have relied on technology. Transport systems(communication) have also been developed over time to satisfy the needs of the society as well as the technology of the time.
Below is a timeline of various forms of transport and their advancement over time.

Photography

Photography  is the artscience, and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film, or electronically by means of an image sensor.
There are various categories of photography and the are a few i focussed on such as science, reality and sports and also say something about their characteristics and differences.

This is a scientific image that shows how butterflies are attracted to light.
The image is clear and very focussed on the subjects to show every detail of the species.
This is a realistic picture that shows the effects of war.
The image is in black and white which has a more in depth effect.
The image is of a child suffering from hunger/starvation. The black and white gives a sombre effect and the viewer is able to see the characters better.
This photograph shows the occupy movement, the image is in colour and doesn't have an impact as much as the images in black and white do.
The image is of two rugby players, it shows movement and action.
The image is of two rugby players, it shows movement and action. The action is not pre planned.

The image shows a lady posing for a photograph in the fashion field. The images is pre planned and staged.
The world of fashion photography shows beautiful women displaying the objects that are being advertised. The women are used to make the object more desirable and in turn set a trend.

The world of photography dictates the opinion of the viewer about a subject, object or society by the  manner in which it is presented. In science the images are very clear so as the detail can be shown. In fashion the models pictures are pre meditated and the photographer knows what he wants as compared to sports the action is sporadic and random and the photographer is but forced to wait for the perfect picture.
Society is effected by what they see and how it is shown matters most, the third image depicts a hungry woman and the effect that it has on society is remorse and empathy.

The Influence of Technology and Science in our lives

Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.
Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Reflexivity refers to circular relationships between cause and effect. A reflexive relationship is bidirectional with both the cause and the effect affecting one another in a situation that does not render both functions causes and effects.
Technicism is an over reliance or overconfidence in technology as a benefactor of society.

My entire life depends on technology entirely. From the moment I wake up to the moment I sleep I use the technology for every single thing. My phone is my alarm, my watch, my music player, I then enter class to use a computer which I spend most of my day on working on designs and research as well as entertainment and updating myself on the happenings of the world.

Zeitgeist and Utopia

Zeitgeist is the intellectual fashion or dominant school of thought that typifies and influences the culture of a particular period in time. This relates to design when one thinks about how the artists of different periods were able to come up with their own styles that influenced the way design was approached and the manner in which the artists of that particular movement did their artwork, for example the Russian constructivists applied the belief that the function of an object should determine its form and ultimately its design.
Utopia is a community or society possessing highly desirable or perfect qualities. I found this description online and as compared to my understanding of the word utopia is; that it is an incredible and impenetrable moment or state of the human condition in which there is no impossibility or incapability of man.
The manner in which I went about searching for the content online was proof reading most sites that had something I felt had relevant information and that would inform me better about the term zeitgeist and how it could be applied to design. Idid have difficulty in reviewing the information as a good amount of the videos were for instance about how religion is fictional and that religion is a basis in which a group or society found a way to make themselves more prominent in society.
Due to the fact thatI had a theme to go with filtering out the information that was relevant for this task was not as difficult as I had direction and a focussed path.
The following images are a representation of the images that represent Zeitgeist and Utopia in various categories of fashion, art, design, and creative fantasy.

Zeitgeist and utopia are ultimately states of thought and how individuals view the world and how they have spread their opinions through the world of art. Several artists have expressed their view of a utopia  as shown in the images above, zeitgeist as well has been represented and fashion designers feel that their medium to represent a thought and the idea behind it is one that should be viewed and understood.
